Two S'pore tankers impounded

PONTIAN: The Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (southern region) has impounded two Singapore-registered tankers for transferring fuel without a permit.
First Admiral Commander Che Hassan Jusoh said the agency's patrol boat at the coastal area of Tanjung Piai had spotted the two vessels 2.1 nautical miles off Tanjung Piai at 8.50pm on Oct 28.
A check on the vessels showed that 3,580 litres of marine fuel were transferred from MT Jurong Herring into MT Sea Jaguar.
Che Hassan said the matter was being investigated under Section 491B (1)(k) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952.
