A motorist was charged yesterday with causing the death of a motorcycle pillion rider.
Ho Chee Wei, 27, was driving at a speed between 100.8kmh and 120kmh along the Pan-Island Expressway toward Tuas at 12.44pm on April 19 last year when he allegedly rear-ended a motorcycle ridden by Mr Darren Loh Chen Siang, 23.
Mr Loh's pillion rider, Ms Chong Ying Ying, 23, was flung off and died.
Ho, who is alleged to have fled the scene, faces a total of 12 charges, six of which are related to the offence.
At the time of the incident, he was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for all classes of vehicles for four months.
He is charged with causing Ms Chong's death by a rash act, failing to stop after the accident, failing to render help and removing his vehicle without the authority of a police officer.
He also faces five charges for possession of drugs and utensils.
Ho is remanded at a drug rehabilitation centre. His case will be heard again on July 30.
