Prime Minister Lee also reminded the party convention that Singapore will be amending the Constitution, which will result in more Non Constituency MPs, smaller Group Representation Constituencies and more Single Member Constituencies. That means there would be more contests in the next General Election. So Mr Lee's message to the party activists is: never assume that your division will get a walkover. .........................

The rationale has already been provided by MM Lee. Singapore system lacks check and balances, poor accountability and all these attributes are important and essential if we are to prevent corruptions from taking roots in high office. The solution: raise ministars' salaries to the sky and their banks' accounts will be fat enough for them to yawn at financial bribery.

A clever move by PAP, cos they know that they are getting more and more unpopular. If they continue with this GRC thing, they may lose more seats at a single go when the opposition wins. If not why wait till now to make a U-turn? Cos they know that people will be more willing to vote for the opposition next time round.
