The GRC system was created by the pap to allow their failed candidates as well as favoured but sub-standard candidates a back door to enter parliament and to be appointed to lucrative ministerial jobs. Lots of example for us to examine. Examples: Ong ye kwang (cannot even remember these substandard people), tin pei lin, demon chew, ma bao tan, etc.... This levelling down on the quality of the government will eventual cause the downfall of Singapore.

Given the qualifying criteria to be considered as presidential candidate, and the situation of not having one of the direct next-generation familee member in the parliament now, it is very obvious who is going to be the next president, just in case LHL gets a relapse and go reporting before every chess piece are in placed.
If Taiwan can have a new lady President with no lineage to anyone, and via democratic election process, why not SG?
The position of either the PM or the President cannot be both held by a non-familee member simultaneously.
