SIA starts A380 service to Delhi and Mumbai on May 30
For the first time, Singapore Airlines will launch A380 (above) services to two destinations on the same day. Singapore's national airline will start the super jumbo services to Delhi and Mumbai on May 30. For India, this is a first. It is the first time any airline will be flying in passengers to the country's shores in an A380.
Both SIA flights leave Singapore in the evening and return the following morning.
The A380 offers three classes of seats - suites, business and economy. The aircraft was designed by the manufacturer to accommodate 525 seats but SIA's A380s seat 471 or 409 passengers, thus ensuring a more spacious and comfortable travel experience on this super-jumbo aircraft. SIA's first 11 A380s have 471 seats while the remaining aircraft are designed to seat 409.
Each suite is an exclusive cabin with sliding doors and has several luxury features, including a leather chair upholstered by world-renowned upholsterer Poltrona Frau. Fully adjustable, with a simple-to-use control panel, the seat can be adjusted to fit any sitting or lounging position. Every suite features a standalone full-sized bed measuring 27 inches by 78 inches.
The Business Class seats on the A380 are the largest in the industry, measuring 34 inches wide, with a generous seat pitch of 55 inches. The seat can be transformed into the largest full-flat business class bed in the sky. For the business traveller who prefers to work in-flight, the new Business Class is easily converted into an office with its height adjustable table, well-positioned reading lights, in-seat laptop power supply and USB ports.
The Economy Class seat on the A380 boasts smart features giving customers more personal space and increased leg and knee room. Other features include height-adjustable leather headrests with side panels which can be folded for head and neck support, intelligent stowage features such as coat hook and spectacle receptacle to enhance travellers' personal space, adjustable personal reading light, larger personal LCD monitor at 10.6 inches, Givenchy-designed fabric seat cover and inseat power supply.
All-in return promotional airfares in Economy Class on the A380 to Delhi start from $618 while the promo fares in Economy Class on the A380 to Mumbai start from $638. To get these rates, passengers have to book by June 30 for travel out of Singapore from May 30 to Aug 31.
