SINGAPORE — A developing northeast monsoon surge in the region is expected to result in widespread rain on Friday (Jan 8) night that is forecast to last over the weekend.
In a Facebook post on Friday evening, the National Environment Agency (NEA) reminded members of the public to take their “brolly along” when making plans for the weekend.
The agency said that as the monsoon surge strengthens, widespread rain that is “heavy at times” is forecast later on Friday night.
“The rain is expected to be persistent and last over this weekend.”
NEA added that this will bring with it cool and windy conditions, with the daily minimum temperatures dipping to between 21°C and 22°C in some places.
This is the second monsoon surge to affect Singapore in January, after two days of continuous rain from a monsoon surge last week.
