Monitor, mat or gloss

i went to sitex yesterday looking for monitor. Accer's is the cheapest, but no mat accept with 24" which is too big for me, the rest are glossy. Knn..how come most of the monitors now manufactured in glossy?

I can't imagine I have to keep shifting my head left and right on the 24 inch wide-screen monitor during surfing.
