200 teachers told to pay back excess bonus

ABOUT 200 new teachers have been told to return a large chunk of a bonus payout which had been credited to them by mistake six months ago.

The affected teachers were initially given until Oct 8 to return the overpaid amounts, which is in the region of $2,000 each, depending on the individual teacher's salary.

But the Ministry of Education (MOE) has since extended the deadline to the end of the year after requests from some of the affected teachers.

What I find interesting is why they cannot simply inform the teachers concerned, work out a mutually agreeable arrangement and deduct the amount from their salaries in the months to come.

See, ppl like you , don't think far and outta the BOX!.. especially concerning money matters.

Teachers or ppl in the teaching profession are a rag tag bunch, they 'come and go'!

So if you, being the payer didn't quickly collect back the 'bonus payout' what if these affected teachers take action and 'GO'?

You then engage an AH LOng to collect it back, is it?:
