<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to the letter "Three problems: Broadband speeds" by Mr Sim Ngee Mong last Saturday.
We have contacted and apologised to Mr Sim for the lapse in service. We have also advised him on his PC settings to achieve a higher mobile broadband speed.
SingTel's BroadBand on Mobile service is meant for our subscribers to access the Internet and data services such as e-mail while on the move in Singapore with their 3.5G devices, for example, mobile phones and laptops. Subscribers of this service, which uses High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) technology, share a common bandwidth within an area. The access speeds are dependent on a number of factors, such as the number of concurrent users, types of 3G/3.5G devices and software application used, Internet traffic and the condition of destination servers.
To enjoy dedicated high-speed Internet access from home, customers can subscribe to SingNet's broadband services, which offer higher surfing speeds.
We remain committed to offering quality services and customer experiences. As part of our ongoing mobile network enhancement programme, we are in the process of upgrading our HSPA network to offer downlink speeds of up to 14.4Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 5.76Mbps. The enhancements are expected to be completed by end-March next year.
We thank Mr Sim for his feedback.

</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to Mr Sim Ngee Mong's letter "Three problems: Broadband speeds" last Saturday.
We read the letter with great interest and would like to encourage Mr Sim to give StarHub's mobile broadband service - MaxMobile Ultimate or MaxMobile SurfLite - a try.
Presently, our mobile broadband network is capable of delivering speeds of up to 14.4Mbps on the downlink, and by the end of the year, 5.76Mbps on the uplink. Even though available mobile broadband modems in the market can support up to 7.2Mbps (downlink) and 1.9Mbps (uplink) in speeds only, the virtue of a higher mobile broadband network capacity would mean that our 3.5G mobile network is capable of delivering an overall better customer experience.
However, please do not take our word for it. Do check out the Digital Life article by Mr M. K. Wong called 'Get a move on' published on Aug 13. Mr Wong reviewed all the mobile broadband services available in Singapore and in his tests around town, rated StarHub's MaxMobile 'the top performer without a doubt...with top speeds of 4Mbps for downloads and 512Kbps for uploads. The speeds were achieved in many spots around the island'.
We would like to invite Mr Sim to visit our MaxMobile service webpage at www.starhub.com/broadband. If he is keen to know more about our MaxMobile packages, he can also call our Subscription Sales Hotline at 1630 for details.
