Unlike Singapore, where the PM himself meets his constituents to know their problems first hand, only lower-ranked cadres in China have to meet the people and report to the leaders. This is because China is a very big country.
Lee also said that the Chinese have been studying Singapore for many years, sending many teams of officials to attend courses at the NUS, NTU and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
MM also that said: "In Singapore you can throw acid at Seng Han Tong, but in China, you won't even be able to get close to the politcian. Singapore's politcians are accessible to the people and its a "risk we take" and this means that "we have connection with the people, which is a very big plus."
Mafia Mentor LKY is probably hinting that they deserve their atrocious salary because they always take risks to meet the people who might throw acid at them.
