Missing persons: 'At least 15 mysterious cases in last 20 years'

Teacher Seow Shu Ping returned home on Saturday after a fruitless two-week search for her missing husband in Greece.
Medical student Kouk Leong Jin, 28, was last seen three weeks ago in Athens, where he had gone for a medical conference.
Madam Seow, 28, joins a list of families who have been left in the dark over the whereabouts of their missing loved ones.
BACKGROUND STORY
Some disappearances
- Sim Teck Beng (above): Last seen in 2003. He told his mother he was going to the United States and would be back in a few weeks.
- Koh Pee Yeong (above): Last seen in 1998. He left for Indonesia in 1996, but kept in touch with his daughter through letters and phone calls until 1998.
- Baey See Mong: Last seen in 1987. His sister later sought help from the Crime Library to find him after he went missing in Tokyo.
- Ong Siu Chew: Last seen in 2003. The computer programmer with Standard Chartered Bank Singapore was supposed to be on holiday in China when she went missing.
- Ching Kwok Chuen:Last seen in 2003. His wife has since applied to the High Court to declare him dead after he disappeared in China.
- Lee Wan Pow: Last seen in 2001. He disappeared after a visit to Wuhan, China, to collect rent from his relatives.
- Lin Woei Chyan: Last seen in 2007. He went to Vietnam to work as a consultant and was not heard from again.
- Leong How Seng:Last seen in 2007. He left for China with $5 million.
According to the Crime Library, a voluntary group which helps to track missing people here, at least 15 Singaporeans in the last two decades are known to have vanished in mysterious circumstances. The last-known countries they were seen in include China, Vietnam, Japan and Indonesia.
