Ministry recruits 43,000 price-watchers
BERA: About 43,000 members of public have become price-watchers for the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry. They would be tasked to go to the ground to check on the price of everyday consumer items throughout the Hari Raya festive season.
Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the price-watchers were volunteers who would help ministry enforcement officers during the holiday season.

He added that there would be unscrupulous traders who would find the opportunity to increase the prices of consumer goods with the hope that the authorities would never find out about their actions.
“Members of the public who have registered with us as price-watchers can improve the ministry’s efforts to nab unscrupulous traders,” he told reporters after presenting RM400,000 in donations from Bank Rakyat to 2,350 disadvantaged people from the Bera parliamentary constituency yesterday.
