According to a report by LianHe WanBao yesterday, the remaining six charges against former Ren Ci Hospital chief executive Ming Yi have been withdrawn.
The six charges which included forgery and breach of trust were stood down during his initial trial last year on four charges related to an unauthorised $50,000-loan granted to his personal assistant, Raymond Yeung, from Ren Ci Hospital’s coffers in May 2004.
Ming Yi, 48, whose real name is Goh Kah Heng, was jailed for 10 months and released from prison last month on Home Detention Scheme. With one-third remission of his sentence for good behaviour, he will serve only one more month of home detention. The Commercial Affairs Department will soon meet the Buddhist monk and give him a verbal warning, the newspaper said.
