Caucasian shepherd dogs are strongly boned, muscular, and even-tempered molossers. Plain dogs have a shorter coat and appear taller as they are more lightly built. Watch the video by Animal Watch for more info.
Mountain dog types have a heavier coat and are more muscularly built. Caucasian ovcharka are large dogs, however, there is no recorded maximum height or weight. The minimum height for females is 64 centimetres , with a desirable height between 67 and 70 centimetres
The reason why they are so good at protecting live stock, sheep for instance, is because they are not afraid to attack a pack of wolves or even a bear. They have an extremely strong guardian instinct. They won’t hurt whoever they consider family, but we still don’t recommend the breed to families with children.
