A body was discovered floating in the waters around Marina Bay today.

Workers in the area noticed the floating body at about 8am this morning and alerted the police.

Witnesses describe the deceased as a Chinese man in his 70s. The man was wearing a polo tee and khaki pants when his body was discovered.
Identification was found on the man's body and his identity is currently being verified.

The man is believed to have been dead for some time before his body was found.

Crowds gathered to watch as police and Civil Defence personnel retrieved the body from the waters this morning.

Passersby and tourists alike appeared taken aback that a body was found in the area.

Because the body was found near the casino, some speculate that the man may have committed suicide after losing money on the gambling tables.

Police have classified the case as an unnatural death and are investigating.

By today in Red Dot, only Lack of Suicide in any Single Day is news. Otherwise it is already routine.

One day when there is no suicide in SG for a row of few days, famiLEE LEEgime can declare a celebration and make it public holidays! That must be very lucky days in the calendar = 黄道吉日。

Time that reporters have a fixed reporting template for news of this nature. Just change date, time, location, age, skin color and gender. The rest are routine now.:(

recently, after the latest suicide in bedok reservoir, i happened to hear from radio that the deceased was mentally ill. apparently, what i think is that instead on blaming on the casinos, they are putting the blame on the deceased himself. pple die already, they still blame him.

According to the Chinese evening paper Lianhe Wanbao, the man, described as an ethnic Chinese man in his 70s was found by workers in the area at around 8am. They alerted the police.
He was found wearing a short-sleeved collared shirt and beige trousers.
The man is believed to have been dead for some time, as when the police recovered his body, it was found to be cold and stiff. His identity is being verified.
Police have classified the case as an unnatural death. Investigations are ongoing.
This comes just a few days after a badly decomposed body was found at the Pandan Reservoir. A 30-year old Chinese national had been found floating there, and is believed to have been undiscovered for several days. He was found floating by a PUB staff who was conducting checks around the sea.
