Instead of responding directly to feedback from a reader, The New Paper’s deputy editor Melvin Singh challenged him to meet outside and called him a ‘chicken’ for not daring to do so.
The irate reader by the name of Paul emailed us his entire conversation with Melvin Singh who has come under intense heavy criticisms of late from the online community with his misleading articles smearing pro-Singaporean leaders like Nicole Seah.
Paul had contacted Melvin Singh last week taking to task for his earlier article insinuating that Nicole was raising funds online via ‘improper means’:
Melvin Singh did not even bother to defend himself and ask Paul to do ‘research’ on Joseph Ong Chor Teck who has become TNP’s favorite punching bag of late:
It is pretty obvious that Melvin Singh has a personal grudge to bear against Dr Joseph Ong and has been abusing his position as TNP’s deputy editor to further his personal vendetta against him by dealing a series of LOW BLOWS under the belt.
Coincidentally, there are few Facebook monikers like ‘Valencia Orange’ and ‘Eureka Lemon’ who have been posting in PAP Facebooks calling on netizens to ‘google’ Dr Joseph Ong’s name.
TNP also published an article anonymously on the same day insinuating that Dr Ong was behind the ‘online abuse’ its journalists were getting from netizens. According to tip-offs we received, Melvin Singh edited the original article without the permission of the TNP journalist to implicate Dr Ong specifically to smear him.
After Paul refused to meet up with Melvin Singh, he called him a ‘chicken’:
Is this how the deputy editor of a SPH paper behave? Do SPH journalists routinely respond to feedback by meeting up with its readers in person and call them names when they refuse to meet? Do you want to pay 70 cents to buy TNP so that Melvin Singh can continue to pursue his personal agenda against Dr Joseph Ong or any other persons?
In the meantime, netizens continue to call for SPH to remove Melvin Singh on a Facebook page dedicated ’specially’ to him.
