Mediacock really useless don't have video clip of world cup but have other sport video clip eg. NBA.
Don't know how they award them self in last month journalist awards.
Others country like Indon/Thai and Matland also have video clip.

I understand perfectly the lack of "rights" resulting in not being able to air footage. However, noting that Ch 5 is going to telecast 4 matches "live" - courtesy of a FIFA policy - Mediacork could have negotiated for a "small fee" to air footages.

In any case, these are not "live' footage but past matches or matches already played, hence the "cost" will not be high. In any case, these will be footage of goals or highlights - a few minutes long...won't hurt the purse so much.

I don't see how this could impact the telecast rights of Shithub and the Singtel. In any case, die-hard fans will prefer to watch "live"

Its just the case of Mediacork are not willing to spend a little bit of money for the greater good of community. They could air footage of F1, the fake ping pong victory - these also cost money in the strictest sense (maybe not so much).

why wouldn't FIFA want to sell the rights to clips? if they are already selling live telecast rights why don't they sell the rights to use clips - which comparatively is a cheaper commodity. In any case, these clips are pretty much useless after the match.

Whoever owns the telecast rights have also the rights to use the clips thereafter - its the case Mediacork refusing to deal with Singtel / Shithub to make the deal or if contractual limitations forbid "reselling" - they could deal direct with FIFA to just the rights.

Nothing is impossible if you are willing to pay.
