Mechanic jailed 18 years for raping stepdaughter
ALOR SETAR: A mechanic has been sentenced to 18 years’ jail for raping his stepdaughter three years ago.
Session Court Judge Mohd Sabri Ismail also ordered the 27-year-old mechanic to be given six strokes of the rotanafter finding him guilty yesterday of committing the offence at a house in Mukim Air Hangat in Langkawi on Nov 20, 2007.
The girl was 17 at the time of the offence. The judge allowed a stay of execution pending an appeal by the accused. However, he turned down the accused’s request to maintain the bail at RM4,000 and raised it to RM7,000 in one surety.
Counsel K. Kartikumar represented the accused while Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamed Rizal Fadzil prosecuted.
