Things are not looking good for the regime change Ah Beng in Aljunied GRC which Ah Beng considers his best hope for his favorite party the Worker's Party aka WP aka Wannabe PAP to secure a win. The ground is rife with rumors that Sylvia Lim is deserting Aljunied GRc for a SMC. Her replacement from what I have heard might be Taiwanese born Chen Show Mao. Having been MIA for the last 40 years, his sudden appearance coupled with his heavy Taiwanese accent and Confucian preaching, are bound to be a winner with the Malay voter, who incidentally makes up the highest concentration by percentage in Aljunied vis-a-vis other constituencies.
Another WP A-team heavyweight that looks set to throw his hat in Aljunied GRC is none other than you-vote-for-opposition-while-I-vote-PAP-k, Yaw Shin Leong, who has in a recent press conference publicly admitted that it was "a mistake" and "lesson learn" and has promised not "to do it again". I guess that means this Ah Beng can be trusted.
On the PAP front, while Georgie has not made any explicit threats, he did however layout his team's master plan for Aljunied GRC in the April 2011 newsletter mailed to all residents. To recap a few of the estate enhancements laid out:
For Aljunied GRC, this is PAP plan:
1. 4 new MRT stations ( Kaki Bukit, Bedok Town Park, Bedok Reservoir & Tampines West)
2. 21 blocks selected for Home Improvement Program with a further 300 eligible
3. 13 km of estate and park connectors.
4. Pilot project to use renewable energy sources.
5. More childcare centers
With Low Thia Kiang having 'chickened' out of a GRC contest after his vain boast was called for what is really is - a BLUFF; Aljunied residents saddled with mortgage are left stratching their heads on how his plan to fix HDB sales to median income is going to help them as they face a potential "double whammy" what with the loss of the MRT stations and asset devaluation should they vote for WP. In exchange they may get an insurance policy which for all intent and purpose could be worthless.
Residents particular in blocks 600 to 700 something are salivating at the prospect of the new mrt stations. Transportation has been difficult for those residents for 2 decades now with one feeder bus servicing to Eunos while another to Bedok Central with only a handful of direct buses. Residents at Baywater and the flats in that vicinity know that in 2015 they will have the perfect home - one overlooking the scenic reservoir with an MRT station within the 200m walking distance.
