SINGAPORE: Help is on the way for retrenched workers studying at the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS).

The institute will spend S$20 million to fund three initiatives to help their students stay in school and among them is a grant for its Singaporean students who have been retrenched.

Up to 200 of them can apply for grants of between S$2,000 to S$3,000.

MDIS said this grant is the first-of-its-kind offered by a private school.

Students who have taken loans with the Telecom Credit Co-operative will be allowed to repay the principal after they start work.

Interest on their loans will also be capped at three per cent per annum.

International students pursing post graduate studies can also look forward to a fee rebate of S$1,500.

MDIS is also offering scholarships ranging from S$3,000 for Diploma students to S$10,000 for degree and masters students.
