A croupier with Marina Bay Sands (MBS) casino was jailed for six months on Monday for pocketing cash chips totalling $16,500.
Kannan Vijayanaman, 27, admitted to criminal breach of trust of cash chips at the casino at Bayfront Avenue between November and Dec 19 last year.
The court heard that on Dec 19, a surveillance operator was doing a random monitoring of table games when she saw Kannan lift up a high denomination chips cover and take a piece of $5,000 MBS cash chip which he then tucked into his left sleeve.
The officer informed her supervisor who notified the security department. Security officers took him to an interview room and found the $5,000 cash chip from under a hand sock worn on his left arm which was tied with a rubber band.
