A croupier at Marina Bay Sands Casino allegedly colluded with a gambler to increase the value of her bets.

Singaporean Oke Ching Siang, 31, is also said to have placed wagers for Filipino Maricel Siason Belonio with cash chips he was in charge of.

Yesterday, the pair were charged with colluding in a fraudulent scheme and causing the casino to lose $2,610.

They are believed to have committed the offences between June 11 and June 17 when Belonio, a sales executive, was at the craps table.

The value of chips he allegedly added to her wagers was between $56 and $1,162 during her five visits to the casino.

She faces five charges, while he stands accused of an additional charge of causing the casino to lose $6 in cash chips on June 18.

No details of their relationship were given.

Oke, who had no lawyer, told the district court that he intends to plead guilty. His next hearing will be Thursday next week.

Belonio's lawyer is Mr Sunil Sudheesan, and a pre-trial conference has been scheduled for Nov 15.

Under the Casino Control Act, each could be fined up to $150,000 and jailed for up to seven years if found guilty.
