A few days ago, the Mayor of Guayaquil, Ecuador, refused to land two flights from Europe, causing a large number of police cars to stop at the airport runway. It is understood that the flight came to pick up European passengers stranded in South America, and was forced to fly to the capital of the country to land. The Ecuadorian government said the airport ’s national property mayor had no right to impede airport operations. The mayor said that letting European flights land was at risk of outbreaks and expressed willingness to take responsibility.
