All the best to her.
In order to care for a kidney patient, the resources and time is a lot.

Prolonged high intensity cardio exercise can lead to a condition called rhabdomyolysis, where muscles break down under stress and release proteins into the blood stream which then clog up the kidneys, leading to acute kidney failure.

Is that the reason SG has high rates of kidney failure because men overexert during NS albeit the damage becomes apparent only much later?

That's more due to march haematuria, where prolonged marching can lead to blood cells bursting and releasing haemoglobin into the urine. Usually resolves on its own but in some may lead to kidney failure in a small number of cases

I think the high rate of kidney failure here is more due to high incidence of poorly managed diabetes and high blood pressure.
