I've said my piece many times over.
Masks will make it worse for those who are trying to avoid getting infected because the act of putting on a mask will result in the transmission of the virus from dirty hands to the face. If you want to increase your risk of catching the virus then be my guest. I certainly won't stop you as it will hopefully eliminate more of the stupid. There are already far too many morons in this world for my liking.
The more pertinent information in this report is the fact that the authorities now seem to be accepting the fact the virus is already widespread which is what I have been saying from day one when all this corona crap hit the fan. There are so many asymptotic cases out there that the controls in place are nothing more than a joke.
This also means that the virus is way less lethal than ALL the initial calculations indicated.
I am still trying to find a comparison, not of infection rates but of non corona deaths(influenza) vs corona deaths. Either nobody has the time to compile this info OR it is not in the interests of an influential segment of the medical industry to reveal that Corona deaths are a "nothing burger".
We read this many many times too. I rather wear bra than mask. Happy?
Edit: @ginfreely can I have your bra?
If you want to be really safe why don't you stick your head into ginfreely's cheese pie you'll be protected from every infection under the sun.
dr. oz just taught the audience on daytime tv on how to fold a bandana and attach 2 rubber bands at each end to create a homemade mask. all the docs in his program agree that wearing masks for the general public is not warranted as there are more cons than pros, but it may help in an epicenter when cases of asymptomatic carriers spike. it is highly recommended that these asymptomatic carriers wear masks at all times, if not at least when they venture out of their homes. they all agree that this virus is sextremely difficult to contain because of its virulence and the high incidence and prevalence of asymptomatic carriers (around 30%). my own folded bandana based on dr. oz’s instructions.

that’s why cdc may revise its guidance to encourage everyone to wear a mask when going out and or when someone else is at home, because nobody knows who is infected, especially with asymptomatic carriers. the other alternative is mass testing for everyone, which is logistically not possible. How do asymptotic carriers know that they are infected?

those sources and actions were also discussed on today's program. towards the end of the discussion and debate, all docs on the show agree that not only all should wear masks (because of "unknown" asymptomatic carriers) all door knobs, door handles, phones, laptops, screens, steering wheels, car doors, toilets, etc., in any epicenter, should be thoroughly cleaned with alcohol-based or chlorine-based sanitary products on a daily basis. otherwise, the transmission vector (infected humans coughing, spitting, sneezing, talking, farting) constitutes only a fraction of the total transmission environment. While it sounds logical that if a carrier is wearing a mask the risk of spread is reduced what actually happens is the infected touch things, door handles, keypads, public transport hand rails etc which is how most of the transmission takes place.
The number of cases of "sneezing into someone's face" are few and far between especially by those who are asymptotic in the first place. If you have no symptoms you won't be coughing or sneezing. However you will be digging your nose before drawing some money from an ATM.
If you can afford to wear masks. Wear them.
People can be taught how to put on masks and take off masks without touching the surface of the mask. Only touch the straps and when throwing away the mask do it gently so it doesnt kick up viral particles.
The main reason why they dont want you wearing masks is either cos it causes more panic and worry (that is when some wear while some dont and there are not enough masks for everyone) or it will result in shortages for the healthcare workers.
The worst hit are healthcare workers. Cos they get exposed to very high viral loads again and again if they are not protected properly.
Imagine you kena from one person. The workers kena from tens of people everyday!
