The signs are already coming. Just 2 days ago, I wrote about the authorities seeking to reclaim leadership of the minibond fiasco from Mr Tan Kin Lian by denying him the medium for his views to be heard.
They have now moved in faster than expected. Three independent parties were appointed by MAS to oversee the complaints handling and resolution process in a deft move to reclaim the initiative from him.

For the past few weeks, Mr Tan Kin Lian has been the only person providing a listening ear and much needed advice to the beleaguered investors through his blog and weekly “protests” at Hong Lim Park. Nowhere were these three independent parties seen or even heard.
Going by usual logic, Mr Tan should be appointed as one of the independent parties to oversee the process for the following simple reasons:
XXX
By sidelining and ignoring Tan who was previously part of the establishment on purpose, the authorities are sending a subtle message across to Tan that his involvement is not welcomed and to the investors that they are now taking control of the situation.
It is also a snub to Tan whose tireless efforts so far have not won him any words of thanks, appreciation or recognition from the authorities. There were even grouses going around within circles in the bureaucracy that Tan is a “busybody” who really should be minding his own business instead of poking his fingers into a matter which does not concern him.
