Mark Lee opens another Old Town outlet at Cineleisure
At the official opening of his fifth Old Town coffeeshop outlet at Cineleisure, local actor-comedian Mark Lee revealed that he hopes to open at least one to two shops each year - until he attains his dream of owning 12 to 15 outlets islandwide. Mark's mentor and co-shareholder, Jack Neo, was present at the shop's opening with local celebrities such as Vivian Lai, Pornsak, Jeremy, Pan Lingling, Hong Huifang, Yvonne Lim, Michelle Tay and many more.
With an expanding business, Mark straightforwardly remarked, "The business is definitely earning, which is why it is expanding." Apart from that the 41-year-old is currently in the talks of bringing a famous themed restaurant to Singapore.
When he was quizzed on his growing fortune, Mark laughed and said, "How am I supposed to answer this?"
Is he a millionaire now?
"I have a lot of fixed assets. I do not have that much cash!" the bemused one said.
"Honestly speaking, every year on New Year's Eve, I have to distribute the staff's bonuses. It is really hard to count all that cash. Last year we counted till 7am in the morning before distributing their bonuses," he frankly shared.
As most of their workers are from China, the company decided that it would be most convenient for them to receive their bonuses in cash. He further explained, "That is why we are going to buy a cash counting machine this year. I'm not being proud by saying this - otherwise, we really can't count the cash!"
With his wife Catherine helping him to mind the business, Mark revealed that his finances are under her charge. So is his wife the "finance minister" in the household?
"My wife takes care of 20% of my income. I'll take-charge of the other 80%" he chuckled.
