What about compensation?
Car struck by falling tree during storm

MY CAR was hit by a tree that fell onto the Central Expressway during last week's rainstorm. Fortunately, only its canopy struck my car.
This is not the first time trees have crashed because of rainstorms, and yet the authorities are silent on the question of compensation for victims like me.
Surely, innocent motorists should not be made to bear the full brunt of the cost of an accident.
I can claim only against my own insurance, paying the excess, which means my next renewal will be higher.
Having said that, I am grateful that my passenger and I escaped injury and thank a couple who helped me as well as the conscientious police and civil defence officers at hand.

What about compensation?
Road closures hit Padang businesses

<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->
<!-- end left side bar --><!-- story content : start -->
FOOD and beverage operators in the Padang area suffer whenever public events such as the National Day Parade (NDP) and Formula One race are held.
While we understand the need for road closures, consideration should be given to our businesses when the closure is excessively long - like at this year's NDP when the shutdown is nine days longer than last year's.
When traffic is banned from 1pm to 11pm daily, small businesses like ours are hit hard.
Surely, the organisers can plan for the closures more thoughtfully.
If not, shouldn't businesses like ours be compensated?
NDP and other public event organisers should factor in our losses to reflect more accurately the cost of their events.
We deserve reason to cheer too.

30% - 40% levy on Hotels around the route of the F1 Night Race Singapore .
Government collects from Hotels to fund the race .

But if your small business if affected , can you ask government
for 30%-40% compensation for revenue lost .
