Sin Chew Daily reported that many traditional Chinese medicine shops were still selling fake Chinese medicines like bird’s nests, cordyceps, bear bile and rhino horn.
The daily quoted Malaysia Zhong Hua Chinese Medical Association vice-chairman Lim Loke Ming as saying it was difficult for consumers to determine whether such products are genuine.
“Many traditional Chinese medicine shops are still selling these products because they are in high demand and their price ranges from between RM1,000 to more than RM10,000,” he said.
He said it was common to have imitation products as these animal body parts are very rare.
