Its Ok to own many houses if you are rich.
This is not about envy or jealous.
But if Public house is abused by the rich, then it is a tragic story.
resale flats are out of reach to many young sporns but we have an army of private property owners happily owning private property and HDB flats

Many thousands must have been dancing with the PAP wolves with the FT policy are having their HDB flats rened out while they enjoy the private space.

have a heart, HDB should do something about it.

have HDB palace or private property ...

Concerned over HDB's record-keeping

ON FEB 4, I received a letter from HDB informing me that I had violated its rules in buying a subsidised flat from HDB by investing in a private property within five years of my purchase of the HDB flat.

HDB said it had the right to repossess my flat as I had bought it on Sept 1, 1993 and had subsequently invested in a private property without satisfying the five-year minimum occupancy requirement.

I was given two weeks to arrange an interview with HDB to plead my case.

I had obtained approval from HDB before buying the private property but as this was almost 15 years ago, I was worried about finding the documentary proof in time.

After nights of frantic searching, I found the written approval by HDB for the purchase of my private property.

According to the letter of approval, I was allowed to buy the private property because the temporary occupation permit of my intended purchase fell after the five-year occupation requirement.

When my daughter pointed out the error to HDB and asked why it had made the surprise request, she was told HDB needed the documents to facilitate investigation by its audit department and had no record of my letter of approval.

It sounded strange to me because the written approval originated from HDB.

I am concerned that citizens are expected to keep documents from 15 years ago. Should not such records be HDB's responsibility?

What compounds my concern is that the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore advises that all documents be shredded after five years.

There should be a timeframe for HDB to demand documents as it did in my case, relating to approval of such a purchase, perhaps up to five years.

absolutely stupid rules!!! it is like living in a farking commie country!

in oz, u can buy any number of houses with NO govt regulations whatsoever!

let you in on another secret...

there's hanky panky in HDB finance dept....:D

Either you have one HDB hole or many private property if you can, will see more locals pouring out to work rather than collecting rental to punt 4D, or toto, now can go casinos.

Quite true, many locals who have condos or landed are living off the rental from their HDB flats.

This nonsense should stop for the good of the locals.
HDB flats cannot be a tool to profit.

if you can have more private property, no one can say anything about it, you earn the respect.

HDB must stop the madness. many locals are still homeless.

Just imagine, if people can circumvent to buy new flats and then wait for 5 short years....5 years is a short time....and then the way to go ....get a condo, you are double rich already.

By allowing HDB flat owners to buy private property after 5 years of occupation is encouraging the owners to get lazy when rental is good.
What happens if singapore fails one day ?

i know few HDB flats bought by indonesians paying the SPG and giving them some percentage...they wash their black money....even sell at loss and deposit money in bank.....the salary, rental does not justify these high apt costs and we are heading for ameltdown like US...when it is going to happen....no one can time the markets....

When people buy subsidised HDB flats, they said KPKB and say that HDB plays cheat because flats not really subsidised.

When private property owners buy HDB flat from open market or HDB, the colour suddenly changes and these very people say that HDB flats are actually subsidised flats, and some people including FTs and Singaporean property owners cannot buy.

Some people not only want their cake and eat it, but also some spares to keep for the future.

How about those who stay at rented and 3 rooms HDB driving Merc S Class and Nissan GTRs .
