Manager fined $10,000 for graft, cheating

For signing off on a false invoice, a general manager at an electronics company received just a warning letter.
He was still considered a valued employee by Singapore Epson Industrial, and has since been promoted twice.
But a district court on Thursday took a more serious view of his 2007 indiscretion, and fined him $10,000 on two charges of corruption and cheating.
The court heard that instead of buying new mobile phones for his staff through proper channels, Fang Shunong got an external supplier to buy the phones and bill the company for 'spare parts'.
