KEDAH, Malaysia - A 37-year-old man who was shot at six times but escaped by racing to a police station in Sungai Petani on Friday has been arrested after a pistol and six rounds of ammunition were found in his house.
Kedah police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said a samurai sword was also found in the man's house.
He said background checks revealed that the man had a criminal record involving 14 murder, robbery, burglary and drug-related offences.
The man was shot at by a group of men while he was getting out of his car to walk to his house.
He then ran back to his car and drove to the police station.
Two men, aged 24 and 39, have since been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Their arrests led to the recovery of two air guns, two ammunition magazines and a knife.
"The older man is a repeat offender and has 13 previous cases. Our investigations revealed that the shooting was linked to illegal money-lending activities," he said at a press conference yesterday.
On Thursday, the man drove to the Bandar Puteri Jaya police station in Sungai Petani after the high-speed car chase between him and the gunmen at about 2am.
DCP Ahmad said all three men would be remanded until Thursday pending investigations into the case which had been classified as attempted murder and firearm possession.
"We have identified the other gunman, said to be mastermind behind the shooting. He is considered armed and dangerous.
"We are now looking for Yeoh Choon Wah, 34, whose last known addresses is 122, Kampung Benggali, and 21, Lorong Beringin 1, Taman Beringin, both in Sungai Petani, to facilitate investigations," he said
