A 51-YEAR-OLD man who went on trial last year for the murder of a property agent, is expected to plead guilty to a reduced charge of culpable homicide in September.
A magistrate's court heard this on Thursday at a preliminary inquiry relating to 18 other charges faced by Rosli Yassin.
Rosli went on trial for two days in October last year for the murder of Ms Choo Xue Ying, 46, whose decomposed body was found at the Bukit Batok Nature Park in October 2008.
His lawyers then made representations to the prosecution to reduce the charge. Rosli has indicated that he would plead guilty to the reduced charge at a hearing on Sep 12.
On Thursday, 18 other lesser charges that Rosli had faced in the Subordinate Courts were transferred to the High Court so that they can be dealt with together with the culpable homicide charge by the same judge.
Ms Choo's body was found on Oct 20, 2008 by passers-by, but it was so badly decomposed that her identity remained a mystery for several days. Police took the rare step of releasing photographs of some jewellery found on her body in the hope that someone would come forward.
Her identity was later established through dental records.
