SINGAPORE: A 34-year-old male Singaporean will be charged in court on Thursday for using counterfeit chips at the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) casino.
Last January, six pieces of counterfeit S$500 cash chips were detected in circulation at the RWS casino.
The casino operator immediately alerted the police and the counterfeit chips were seized.
Through intensive investigations, the police managed to ascertain the identity of the suspect who was responsible for acquiring the chips.
The suspect will be charged in court for the offence of using counterfeit chips under the Casino Control Act.
If convicted, the suspect faces a jail term of up to seven years or a fine not exceeding S$150,000, or both.
