Long-time employee of a goldsmith, Ho Yuen Kum, was jailed for 24 months on Friday for misappropriating and stealing gold ornaments amounting to about $60,600.

A long-time employee of a goldsmith was jailed for 24 months on Friday for misappropriating and stealing gold ornaments amounting to about $60,600.
Ho Yuen Kum, 59, a former sales executive of Tin Sing Goldsmiths, pleaded guilty to pocketing an assortment of gold items amounting to $41,637 and nine charges of theft involving $9,700.
A district court heard that Ho, who had worked for the company for about 40 years, took 17 gold bracelets, gold chains and pendants totalling $41,637 from the display counter on nine occasions between May and July 2010, purportedly to show to potential clients.
Instead, he pawned them for $30,500.
