KUANTAN, Malaysia - A housewife in her 40s had acid splashed on her by her husband when she refused to have sex with him on Wednesday.
Although they live in the same house in Felda Bukit Sagu 2, near here, the couple are in the process of a divorce.
So when the woman's husband demanded sex from her at 2am that day, she refused.
Deputy district police chief Superintendent Zulkifli Taha said the man became enraged, went to the back of the house for the bottle of acid and splashed its contents on his wife.
The victim screamed in pain and ran towards her sister's house nearby.
She was then rushed to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here for treatment.
Zulkifli said the victim's 55-year-old sister lodged a report at the district police headquarters about 4.30am and police picked up the Felda settler at his home about 15 minutes later.
He said the woman suffered burns on the face and back and was being treated at the hospital.
