TAPAH, Malaysia - A 37-year-old man was fatally shot in Jalan Pahang, Taman Tapah, here, yesterday, believed to be triggered by a dispute with gang members.
In the 12.15am incident, the deceased, S. Manivanan from Kg Baru Air Kuning, died on the way to Tapah Hospital after sustaining several bullet wounds to his head, body and leg.
Acting Tapah police chief Deputy Superintendent Abdullah Arshad said police were searching for two main suspects identified as K. Vimalan, 33, from Jalan Temoh, Chenderiang and S. Visnu, 27, from Jalan Manggis, Taman Kampar Jaya, in connection with the murder.
"Both men are believed to be dangerous and armed with pistols.
"Initial investigations showed the duo had previous records under Section 148 of the Penal Code, for rioting with the use of weapons."
Abdullah said police had also arrested five men, aged between 20 and 35, to assist investigations.
He said the motive behind the murder was still being ascertained, although police believed it was due to gang feuding.
It is learnt that the deceased also possessed previous criminal records and had been released on parole.
In an unrelated case, police are searching for two men under supervision, who had failed to report themselves at the Bidor police station, since last week.
Abdullah said the two individuals possessed a string of records related to drug use, robbery and house break-in.
Mohd Hanif Ma'ali, 28, whose addresses are at Lot 1928, TC 1B, Jalan Pangung Wayang and No. 1 Lorong 4/7A, Taman Tasek Tambahan, had five previous cases involving theft, vehicle theft and drugs.
The other man known as Syed Faisal Syed Abu Bakar, 37, from C8, Kg Cegar, Jalan Sungkai, Bidor and No28, Jalan Ampang Jaya 1, Taman Amapang, Batu Pahat Johor had a total of 11 previous cases related to drugs, house break-ins and vehicle theft.
