SINGAPORE: A man has been sentenced to six years' jail for armed robberies he committed in 1988 and 1989.
Lim Kian Hock, now 50, was arrested by Malaysian police in June 2007. He was jailed in Malaysia for various offences before he was extradited to Singapore in February 2012.
Lim admitted to robbing businessman Low Beng Yuet in May 1989 at the carpark of Goldhill Plaza at Thomson Road with a gun, making away with almost S$60,000 in cash and more than S$110,000 worth of cheques.
Lim was tipped off by Eng Kah Kian, 67, who told Lim that Mr Low had a daily routine of collecting cash from his office and parking his car at Goldhill Plaza before heading to the bank.
Lim’s accomplice Tan Seng Heng was sentenced to four years' jail and 12 strokes of the cane in 1990.
Lim also admitted to robbing 36-year-old bookie Lee Neen Nyet of her handbag, which contained S$35,000, at Jurong East Street 31 in October 1988.
