Man reverses truck over 18-month-old daughter
KEMAMAN: A man was stunned when he saw the blood-drenched body of his young daughter beneath his truck after he had reversed the vehicle at their home in Felda Neram 1, near here, yesterday. The 18-month-old child was crushed to death when the vehicle rolled over her in the 6.30pm tragedy.
Kemaman OCPD Supt Abdullah Sani Salat said the 30-year-old father of little Farida Nasuha Muhd only realised that he had run over his daughter when he felt the vehicle jolt as if it had gone over a speed bump. The girl’s brother, three, watched the horror but was too young to understand what was happening, Supt Abdullah Sani said.
The truck was earlier parked close to the family house after the man returned home from work. Supt Abdullah Sani said minutes later the man got back into the truck after his wife asked him to move the vehicle further. He said the man was unaware that his daughter had come out of the house and was behind the truck as he started to reverse the vehicle.
After he felt the truck jolt, the father alighted from the vehicle and was horrified to see a pool of blood under one of the rear tyres and the lifeless body of his daughter, with serious head and body injuries. Supt Abdullah said police have recorded a statement from the father to facilitate investigations under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence.
