SINGAPORE: Police are investigating a 46-year-old hawker assistant for allegedly making a false police report claiming he was robbed.
Police said on Tuesday he made a report at about noon on February 11, claiming he had been robbed by two men at an overhead bridge near Bukit Timah Plaza.
He alleged that one of the men confronted him with a knife, while the other man robbed him of his cash of S$4,000.
The man also claimed that the men fled towards Rifle Range Road.
Police said investigations revealed he had lost the money in gambling and allegedly made the false report to deceive his mother.
