A lorry driver who threatened and assaulted his wife with a kitchen knife was jailed a total of 14 months on Monday.
The 48-year-old accused, who cannot be named to protect the identities of his wife and daughter, pleaded guilty to four charges with three others taken into consideration. After committing the first set of offences on Feb 11, he re-offended last month while out on bail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Daphne Lim said on Feb 11, the accused returned home with three friends and started drinking. As they were making too much noise, his wife told him so. He became angry and shouted at her. He pulled her into the master bedroom by her shirt and punched her.
After that, he left to get a kitchen knife and used it to cut his wife on the right shoulder bone area, which resulted in a superficial cut.
