SINGAPORE: A rag-and-bone man was sentenced on Wednesday to six weeks' jail for molesting a woman last year at the Istana Open House over the Hari Raya public holiday.
Fifty-four-year-old Woo Fok Meng pleaded guilty to squeezing the woman's buttocks while watching a band performance there on August 30 last year.
The mother of three confronted Woo and then alerted the police.
Woo's lawyer, Josephus Tan, asked for leniency as the offence was committed on the spur of the moment and the offending act was brief.
Court documents revealed that Woo, a Malaysian, was jailed six months in 1999 for a similar offence.
He was then deported to Malaysia after serving his sentence, and returned to Singapore July last year for job opportunities.
The court heard that Woo would most likely be deported again.
For outrage of modesty, Woo could have been jailed up to two years, fined and caned.
