Man jailed 18 months for cheating 4 people
By Elena Chong
A MAN was jailed for 18 months on Tuesday for cheating four others into investing money to buy a condominium at Bedok Reservoir.
Nasir Sabari, 42, who conned his victims of a total of $47,880 in 2008, admitted to four counts of cheating two personal drivers of $44,000.
The court heard that he met fellow personal drivers including Mr Abdul Hadi Rifaie, 47, at the United Square building carpark in mid-2008, and said he was working as a housing agent with Era Singapore.
He suggested that they pool resources to buy a condominium at the newly-launched Waterfront at Bedok Reservoir Road and sell it later at a profit.
He duped Mr Hadi into transferring a total of $50,000 to his POSBank account in August and September, and Mr Suhaimi Samad of $4,000 cash in March 2008.
Two other similar charges were taken into consideration.
