SINGAPORE: Police are investigating a 33-year-old man for making a false police report.
The man, who works as an IT sales manager, had claimed that he was approached by an unknown Chinese man armed with a knife.
He claimed that the suspect confronted him at a void deck at Block 160 Mei Ling Street in Queenstown on Tuesday, and robbed him of his haversack containing cash and valuables amounting to about $4,900.
Police investigations reveal that the man had made a false report to cover up for the loss of some misplaced documents which belonged to his clients.
Anyone convicted of giving false information to a public servant could be jailed up to one year and fined up to $5,000.
