Man investigated for false report on armed robbery

SINGAPORE - Police are conducting investigations against a 39-year-old man for making a false police report, claiming that he was robbed by three unknown male suspects at the vicinity of Blk 632 Bedok Reservoir Road.
On Mar 11, 2013 at about 9.55pm, the man lodged the false report claiming the suspects had confronted him at knife point and took away his cash amounting to $1,437.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive enquiries and through follow up investigations, it was established that the man had lodged a false report, on the alleged offence of armed robbery, hoping that police would take immediate action to apprehend the unlicensed moneylenders who were harassing him for repayments.
Anyone who is convicted for giving any information which he knows to be false to a public servant shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to $5,000, or with both.
