A MAN who uploaded 81 pornographic photos in order to upgrade his access level to browse a porn website was sentenced to four months' detention for disseminating pornography, Jing'an District People's Court said yesterday.
Li De, 26, who has a college degree, was spotted by police after the porn photos he uploaded onto the website got more than 150,000 clicks, prosecutors said.
Li said he became addicted to surfing porn websites three years ago when he lost his job. He registered at a porn website - the name was not disclosed - in July 2010 and found he couldn't view the photos he liked unless he upgraded his access level by either depositing money into his user account, uploading porn photos or replying to the postings.
Li told prosecutors that he chose to upload porn photos because he could quickly find them online. He did that three or four times and uploaded 15 sets of photos including 81 that were determined to be pornographic, the court heard.
After that, Li gained access to view all the photos on the porn website, prosecutors said.
The court said Li used the Internet to spread electronic porn, breaking the law. The highest penalty for disseminating pornography under Chinese Law is two years in prison, but it can be heavier if the pornography is sold to children under 18 years old.
