Man From Macao II tops China's box office

The Man from Macao II, a family comedy starring Chow Yun-fat, led the Chinese box office in the week ending March 1, taking about 438 million yuan (US$70 million).
The film has pulled in more than 715 million yuan (US$114 million) since it opened on February 19, timed for China's Spring Festival holiday, a bumper time for moviegoing.
Adventure Wolf Totem was a respectable No. 2 in the week, taking 29.6 million yuan (US$4.7 million), China Film News reported on Tuesday. Debuting on the same day as The Man from Macao II, its total box office stood at 504 million yuan (US$80 million) on March 1.
Wolf Totem was closely followed by costume action movie Dragon Blade. The film, which stars Jackie Chan, John Cusack and Adrien Brody, grossed 288 million yuan (US$46 million) in the week. Its earnings have reached more than 641 million yuan (US$102 million) since Feb. 19.
Domestic fantasy adventure film Zhongkui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal, which was also released for the Spring Festival, took fourth spot in the week with 170 million yuan (US$27 million). It has earned more than 371 million yuan (US$59 million).
Rounding out the top five list was the sequel to Where Are We Going, Dad?, a film based on a popular variety show which features celebrity dads on camping trips with their kids. It pulled in 88 million yuan (US$14 million)in the week and its total box office stood at about 221 million (US$35 million) yuan since Feb. 19.
