Man fined for tampering with electricity meter

SINGAPORE: A 62-year-old man has been fined S$4,000 for tampering with his electricity meter.
Peh Hock Eng was discovered after two SP Services technicians paid a visit to his Tampines Avenue 8 flat in October 2008.
They found a hole on the left side of the meter cover, around the same level as a scratched rotor disc.
Court documents said Peh had used a needle or similar object to stop the rotor disc from turning.
This prevented the actual amount of electricity his household used from being registered.
