Man fined a total of $12K for three vice offences

A man was fined a total of $12,000 on Wednesday for getting a woman to prostitute herself and living off her earnings.
Alvin Zeng Weili, 29, was fined $6,000 on each of two charges of procuring the woman for prostitution and knowingly living in part on the 36-year-old's earnings between December 2009 and May 31, 2010.
Both were then in the event management industry.
The court heard that the woman, a freelance event planner, found herself financially burdened by her medical expenses after she was diagnosed with lipoma, a benign tumour, in October 2009.
