Man fined $3,200 for non-payment of salaries

A former director of a food and beverage company was fined $3,200 on Thursday for not paying the salaries of his employees.
Bernard Tsai, 59, was fined $800 on each of four charges of failing to pay the salaries of three contract staff of Starcap F&B Group Holdings in 2009. He pleaded guilty.
The amounts ranged from $444 to $2,200.
A court heard that Tsai, a bankrupt, has since paid the arrears amounting to $10,358.
